An Oil Spill Cleanup Chemical That Lifts the Oil for Recovery.

There are three kinds of spill products. Absorbents soak it up and become waste. Dispersants break it into the water column where you cannot recover it. Hasten Cleanse does a third thing: it bonds to the oil, suppresses the vapor, and lifts it from soil, concrete, or the water surface so it can be picked up. Water-based, no flash point, works in fresh or salt water.

Vapor down first. On a fresh spill the vapor is the hazard. Bonding raises the flash point of the spilled product.
Then recovery. Lifted oil is pumped, vacuumed, or padded up. It is not chemically dispersed.

What Hasten Cleanse does not do

It is not a solvent and not a caustic. It will not dissolve, melt, or strip material that is physically bonded or baked onto a surface: scale, rust, hardened deposits, coatings. It lifts hydrocarbons, oil, grease, crude, sludge, and paraffin, by emulsifying them, and it needs agitation, circulation, pressure, or heat to do that work. If your problem is a stuck-on solid rather than a hydrocarbon film or residue, tell us and we will say so.

On a Spill

Stop the source. Contain if it is spreading.
Spray diluted Hasten Cleanse, 1:20 from the pail, over the spill. Vapor drops as it bonds.
Agitate with a brush or broom on concrete; work it into soil; let it sit on water.
Recover: vac, pump, or pads for the last of the water. Runoff is non-hazardous.
Rinse hard surfaces at 1:50.

Absorbent pads soak up the oil and become oily waste you pay to dispose of. A diluted spray of Hasten Cleanse bonds to the hydrocarbon, suppresses the vapor coming off it, and lifts it from concrete, soil, steel, or water so it can be recovered. The spill gets cleaner, not just drier, and there is no bale of oily pads at the end.

Oil Spill Chemical Questions, Answered Straight

Is it a dispersant?

No. It does not sink the oil into the water column. It lifts it for recovery.

Does it work in salt water?

Yes.

Does it suppress vapor on a fresh spill?

Yes. Bonding raises the flash point of the spilled hydrocarbon.

Flammable?

No. Water-based, no flash point.

What about soil contamination after the spill?

See our soil remediation pages. The same chemistry is used to treat petroleum-contaminated soil.
